Cloud Factory

A film exploring how local folklore and reality intertwine beneath an oil refinery’s spires.

Cloud Factory is a short experimental documentary by Kate Clark, Corin Noronha and Emery McCracken, and musician Sam Dunscombe. Currently in production, this short video features oral histories about hundreds of people from Anacortes, WA who grew up thinking their local oil refinery was a mythical place. Interpretations include a fairy city, Disneyland, and a cloud factory.

This video doesn’t pose conclusions about the physical and environmental threats of living near a crude oil processing site. Instead, Cloud Factory explores how crude oil industries permeate our local folklore.
